Bog Myrtle by Sid Sharp
Brief synopsis from Annick Press: From the acclaimed author of The Wolf Suit comes another weirdly hilarious, masterfully thought-provoking, and lushly painted early reader graphic novel.
Two sisters, one stubbornly cheerful (Beatrice) and one relentlessly grumpy (Magnolia), live in a drafty old house with a family of helpful spiders. When Beatrice is gifted magic yarn from a giant forest spider obsessed with sustainability named Bog Myrtle, she and the spiders set to work knitting up a perfectly warm sweater.
But greedy Magnolia sees only the opportunity for profit, and quickly converts the old house into a magic sweater factory. The exhausted spiders are driven to strike, and Bog Myrtle is not pleased . . .

Little Voices Series: Sign Language for Babies & Toddlers
Registration required at Adult Circulation desk or call the library.
Introducing basic sign language to babies and toddlers can be a helpful way to jumpstart their communication development. This four-class series offers parents and other caregivers an opportunity to experience the magic of communicating with their little ones at as young as 6 months old. Participants will learn ways to integrate meaningful growth opportunities into everyday routines and play activities, ensuring fun for kiddos and grown-ups alike!
Content will be:
Appropriate for children ages 6 months - 2 years, including those following typical development patterns and those with unique needs
Tailored for expectant parents, parents, guardians, grandparents, and other caregivers; applicable for daycare providers and early childhood professionals, too. Adults and children are encouraged to attend together to begin applying learned skills right away; however, adults are also welcome to come learn on their own.
Led by Elena Fader Hurlburt, an experienced speech-language pathologist and toddler-mom in the thick of real-life learning!

Lionheart Puppetry Workshop
The Lionheart Puppet Company will be conducting a shadow puppet workshop for children ages 6-10. Shadow puppetry is believed to be the earliest form of puppetry and allows children the opportunity to explore the uses of light and shadow.
Utilizing a series of pre-designed puppet patterns, the children will learn the basics of puppet jointing and construction ultimately creating their own animal shadow puppet.
Following this, the children will then learn the elements of puppet performance as they are lead through a series of exercises moving the puppets across a shadow screen. Students will even learn how to build a simple shadow screen of their own using common items found around the home.
Call to register; space is limited.
Lionheart Puppet Show
A new tailor promises that he can help the Emperor distinguish which of his knights are foolish and which are noble and true. Will poor Sir Humphrey make the cut? And if he does, can he stop a local thief from stealing the Emperor's riches before it's too late?
Based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson, The Emperor's New Clothes shows children that honesty is the best policy.
This show is suitable for ages 4-11.
